Projection Designer, Programmer
Opera ND presents a radically reimagined version of Monteverdi's The Coronation of Poppea, set amidst the sensationalist backdrop of reality TV and tabloid journalism.
Software, Hardware, equipment:
Isadora
Glypheo
Projector
2 Large format monitors
2 stationary handicaps with tripods operated by video crew
1 mobile phone on selfie stick, operated by performers
1 Mac Pro running Isadora with programmed opera scenes and Glypheo, run by one student associate
Isadora powered the show playback for real-time camera capture and video manipulation to create the illusion of a television studio. I trained undergraduate and graduate students with camera equipment and computer software to control the technological elements through the opera. Glypheo, a subtitle app, was also simultaneously programmed and displayed utilizing Isadora’s syphon function, allowing both live video and captions to be present at the same time. Two large format video monitors and one large projector screen served as outputs for the “live” television transmission and the television studio “control room.”
